Early mornings, missing you.
Backyard still, garden holes,
Abandoned balls, bone shards.

Quiet emptiness, lonely emptiness
Busy laundry tasks a poor substitute,
Walkman's music provides distraction.

Jogging along, wet days, unsplashed puddles
Balls idle, no throws while stretching
Soccer games- no Rani interruptions
Main love in life - the ball
Empty pockets, quiet emptiness.

Visits to vets numerous for Rani the pup.
Accidents with cars led to shorter tail and off-set nails.
Digging and stitches not a good combination.
Tail keenly wagging the torso,
Welcoming hugs showed two-legged tricks.

Older dog Rani ready friend to walkers and ball-throwers
Happy memories filling the quiet emptiness, lonely emptiness.
